Checking out.

I wish my husbands mental health wasn’t such a goddam shit show.

Lately he’s unbearable. He name calls, curses, yells, mumbles shit under his breath, and acts like every word I say when I’m talking is the most annoying thing. Like he just can’t wait for me to shut up. He pushes me to my breaking point and then when I snap, he starts sucking up. I’m literally so sick if it right now I could pack up my shit and leave him. He has the ability to frustrate me like no other. I need to check out. So I am. No more patience for about a week. When he is bad, I’m checking out.

He better hope he gets some therapy soon.

Wanting to die.

I have been having a very rough week... I have just felt badly for no major reason I can identify. And I’m annoyed that when I get emotional and I'm given an outlet I just can't shut up... it's actually something that I do that really bothers me in my day to day life, especially at work. I talk about myself too much in my opinion. The hubby and I spoke and he said I bring too much to him. He can’t handle it. I need therapy.

I literally didn't go to work this week. Which is a problem, but somehow it turned out ok in the end...? Monday was a holiday, and Tuesday I woke up and called out of work immediately.

I am literally not really sure what caused me to call out... and I have been borderline obsessing about it all week. I opened my eyes and literally could not get them open because I was so TIRED.

The previous two weeks, I honestly didn't get good sleep for the entirety of two weeks, because my husband injured his arm, which caused him not to sleep well and the toddler not to sleep well because HE had a terrible anxiety reaction to my husband suddenly not being able to lift him or attend to his needs, so the baby was thrilled I was home but confused and regressed with his sleep a lot for those two weeks. I was drained and tried to catch up over the long weekend but didn't get a real chance to.

So Tuesday I called my boss and told her I had a migraine (which was also true) and she canceled my day for me. The next day when I woke up, I felt so depressed and exhausted and still just had a headache - I called out again. I told her I was feeling ill and would set up a doctor appointment. The policy right now is if you have "symptoms" you have to be cleared by a doctor and if you get tested you have to wait for negative results to go back to work. I knew my second day call out was going to result in being out the rest of the week. I knew this when I called. I'm pretty sure I could have toughed it out both days if I had really wanted to, honestly. But I think in that moment I didn't care if I even got fired which is NOT an ok thought process given that I am the sole income for my family.

At this moment, I'm still not really sure if it was physical or mental... I called my doctor, and they sent me to get a COVID test because I was having fatigue and a terrible headache. It was negative, which doesn't mean I wasn't still physically sick, but I feel like this might be more related to being depressed and tired and feeling emotionally drained more than an actual physical illness... I have had issues in the past and will throw up if I'm nervous or get headaches due to stress, but this seemed extreme for that. So I'm really not sure what to think... even now.

The end result of the whole process is I spent $120 to get a COVID test and suddenly had a week off work. At my second job, I get to set my own hours, so I also didn't work that job last week the one day I was supposed to. I cost myself a lot of money by not working basically an entire week, and I do risk losing some of my second job work, because if we don't engage well, we miss out on jobs. But this is the first time I have ever canceled a shift and it didn't seem to be an major issue.

By Thursday I was having a huge mental breakdown about it (mostly the money aspect) and then my husband got his financial aid money for school, and it was more than we anticipated, so suddenly the money of the situation was fixed, and I still knew I had 3 days before I had to go back to work.

But I am currently feeling like I have just fucked up my main job. I have had a lot of things over the past 2 years that resulted in calling out. I have an occasional day where my depression is so bad I don't care what losses I will incur or potential consequences, I just can't DO anything. Like I know I can, but I feel SO incapable. I go on auto pilot. Nothing seems real. I'll text or call out before I even have a real thought about it - it will just be done already. And then I sit like a zombie. I don't shower if I can avoid it, eat crap, avoid everyone and everything and really only attend to the bare needs of my household. Usually it's just a day or two and I'm back to functioning ok. Usually I get caught back up really quickly. But not this week...

I literally could not stop feeling like garbage. Even when I got caught up on sleep finally, I just felt extremely depressed and extremely anxious, like daily panic attacks which hasn't happened in a while. I had to take benzos a few times, which I don't like to do, because I think at one point I was a little too dependent on them to manage my anxiety, and I also think they make me a little depressed when I use it too often, so my husband kind of like checks on me with them, and I feel the need to hide this for some reason from him, even though he has said he doesn't care if I need to use them... I just never tell him when I take one. I smoked all week A LOT this week (which if it ever came up that it was in my system, I would get fired, so I struggle with a lot of guilt about smoking. I used to use it to self-medicate for anxiety pretty effectively, but I don't have that balance anymore. I smoked this week to the point where it was becoming even a little of a finance concern, and I binged and purged many times in the beginning of the week, and then resorted to just binging for the second part.

I think sometimes I use the weed to shut up that voice telling me not to eat like this so that I can just enjoy a binge. It's fucking sick. I have been wanting alcohol SO badly this week. Honestly I'm a bit bitter that I haven't had a drinking option in like a year.

Sometimes I get resentful that I had to give that up to stay with him when I didn't have an issue honestly. So now I eat I guess. I even ordered groceries with food I normally wouldn't serve to my family stating it was because I needed easy meals while I was out sick, but a huge part of it was disordered, and I know that. It's not even a mild concern anymore, It's bad. And this annoys the SHIT out of me, because I have struggled with disordered eating literally all of my life, and it's like fucking whack-a-mole. I will get a part under control for a while and then something is back.

This most recent concern developed after I went back to work after my 2 year old was born. I didn't gain "baby weight" or even really a lot of weight on maternity leave. It was when I went back to work. I was stress eating a lot and struggling to keep any positive eating patterns going for any period of time. I am still in that boat. I need to lose weight badly. I am at the highest weight I have ever been at aside from pregnancy, and it seems like I will do well for a little while and then crash and burn as soon as my stress level increases. I had lost ten pounds leading into the week my husband got hurt, and then I know I have probably gained all that back the past 3 weeks.

I had a hard time with feeling like I don't get to see enough of the baby when I first went back to work, and I know that was a factor of stress eating. I still struggle with this thought on occasion , but I also WANT and need my career - there's not an ideal option, and I have picked my pain. Even this week it was like wonderful to be home with my baby for a week and enjoy him, and I wish I had more of that but I also know I need work. I don't think I stress eat about this specifically anymore. Now it just feels like all stress makes me want to binge. I have a high stress job that I love, but recently the agency itself absolutely sucks more and more. I feel like for the past 3 years, I will get into a good rhythm at work, and then something will change in the agency where I struggle to adapt to the change. Then I adjust and something else changes. Then COVID. And now the changes are bigger and more difficult, and I think there is just a huge disconnect between the population we serve and the people with any actual decision-making power. The manager that I have worked with the past 2 years is leaving, and I'm horrified. She was a saving grace there, and I worry what will replace her. I think she has also protected me in a lot of ways from consequences because she knows I AM a good employee when I am there. I just have issues being there to the level that is expected. We have a lot of performance measurements, and I always do really well on those, so I know that's one reason why I haven't been "looked at" to this point, but the other factor I know is that she has protected me to a degree. I also worked in restaurants for many years where behavior like mine is not considered even an issue 99% of the time and I think I have struggled to adjust to a "real" job the last 3 years.

I feel like I need to get my shit together and give them the 40 hours per week they pay me for but it's a hard job and my job will always be a second priority to my family so I struggle sometimes with any feeling of balance with this. One of the things that I struggled with this week especially is guilt about what my absence at work does. I have scheduled meetings with the families that we serve and those have to get rescheduled. My schedule is usually mapped out several weeks but we have been SO insanely short handed since COVID started that I have like every hour of my week scheduled out almost 6 weeks in advance right now. So everyone I missed this week has to wait longer to start the process, and my coworkers have to pick up slack with executive responsibilities that day, and my boss has to handle disgruntled people who already waited for their appointment just to have it rescheduled. I'm dreading tomorrow and all the emails/voicemails I will have to address and return. It creates work even when I'm not there...

I just want to function better. Healthier. I want to lose weight in a healthy way, and I'm not sure I know how to. I don't want to be depressed like this anymore and I want to be reliable at work AND for my family.

Full of hate

 I want to die.

I hate my so-called fucking friends. I wish they would all leave me alone. How hard is it to ghost someone these days?? Now I’m in a goddam group chat so that I can see all the things they do without me. That’s cool. Let’s bring it back to 2009. Thanks. Like please, fuck off. I turned off the notifications because I didn’t want that in the first place. I can’t relate to any of them and think they are all fucking rude.

I don’t think they will ever grow up. I don’t think they will ever evolve. Their lives are not what I want to be doing. That are not who I want to be, and their priorities are sad to me. We are not kindred spirits. They are not my tribe. But I feel I don’t have one. I only have my husband. Literally. And like one friend. Even E lets me down these days and is so focused on himself I could vomit. And thinks he has it together. I think the sad part is they all think they have it together. I do not play that game.

Purge again. Xanax again. No workout in the morning again. I feel stuck in a fucking time loop. It’s god dam Groundhog Day but somehow it’s a ten year cycle.

I need therapy. I signed up and am waiting. I can’t do this alone anymore. I tested the hubby to see if he can handle it, and he can’t. He listened. He let me vent. But he cares about me too much. And he can never understand. He loves me too much to objectively support me.

I miss graduate school. I even miss restaurants. I miss having kindred spirits around. I miss having a tribe with some loyalty. I wish I had it now. I kind of do, but also kind of don’t. I need a goddam vacation. I need a girls day. I need a new best friend.

I miss sleep, but it hates me.

I have survived a week without binging. Tonight I purged, but it wasn't over a binge - just over a basic dinner. IDK why I felt so compelled to do so, but I did... This weekend was a miracle - I always binge on the weekends and didn't do that at all this weekend.

I am the most exhausted I have been in along time the past two weeks. The hubby's arm has been messed up, and everyone in my house is back to the school-year routine, and it's not going particularly well, AND I have both jobs to work. I have also had some really severe tailbone pain the past week and feel sore all over. I have wanted to escape to my room and isolate every moment, but that has been allowed since hubby has been feeling the same way. We have sex at some point early in the evening, we do the night-time routine with the kids, and then he stays in the living room, and I go to my room.

I have been manic and drinking too much caffeine, it's been affecting my sleep. Plus the littlest one has been waking up in the middle of the night MOST nights lately, so I have been sleeping just simply not enough hours, which I hope to GOD stops happening. I need fucking SLEEP to function as a person, probably more than most. The caffeine has been to compensate, but it's not sustainable.

The sheer amount of stress that I have had latelyt is ALSO not helping my sleep. BUT, no weed... I'm impressed by that, actually. And now that it's been a week of not smoking, I don't really feel the urge. It dissipates quickly when I don't give in... I have been angry though. This weekend I just wished all of them would disappear. Hubby and I planned a kid-free day this Saturday, so I told myself today I just have to get through this work-week and I will be free. I have no major responsibility or projects in addition to usual work this week, so that is a relief also and a nice change from the hectic shit that's been going on lately. I know I need to pick up more clients soon, but the month is almost over, and I feel like I can wait a bit on it. Maybe one night this week if I feel up to it, but lately I feel so exhausted the prospect is draining. It's been hard enough just to keep up with the bare minimum of them, and I'm sure I have lost some from not engaging enough. My reaction to this is to work to keep what I have going on and then build more soon. I feel like I have a good core group right now, which is nice, but I also need more income and need to be able to devote a little more time to it. Lately with the husband's injury and just his mental health in general, I have not had that option. Thursday for example I worked job 1, 8am-4pm, went to the grocery store, came home and cleaned the whole house and cooked dinner, took care of kid bedtime, and then got on and managed client concerns. I didn't stop until 10:30pm, and by that time I just wanted to go to bed. That's not a fulfilling life, even though I can survive it.

I feel like I am in a good place with my weight at this moment. Not with the actual number, but with the direction that it's headed. I know my habits are unhealthy at this moment and reminiscent of the past (like circa 2011...). But I can't seem to care. The world is falling apart, and everyone is depressed, and if I throw up my dinner when my husband and kids aren't home, it's not going to hurt anyone. It is only going to make me feel a little more in control, as sick as that sounds.

I have to focus on everyone SO much in life, it's like my ED is the only thing for me. Fucked, right?

Changes in order:

  1. stop smoking weed - check.
  2. stop binging and purging - meh...mostly there.
  3. get into a workout routine - starting TUESDAY, includes:
    1. Going to bed on time.
    2. No caffeine past 2pm.
    3. Getting fucking sleep.
Goodnight, world.

I'm tired

I have been successful with some of my objectives this week.

I have not been smoking, and I think that has made a huge difference. I told myself I needed a few months break and I can't smoke until Thanksgiving. I have been really tempted to smoke lately when I know there's no chance of it making me actually follow through with eating, but I haven't let myself. And I've only had benzos a couple times for which I am not ashamed, to be honest. I have been toying with the idea of refilling it honestly and probably will. I have been craving alcohol like nobody's business... I don't really know why. Twice this week I cooked with wine, and I had a sip today while cooking. I wish I could have polished off the whole thing. I wish my husband even could go out of town so that I could play, ffs...

I did not binge this week. I actually fasted for a day, which hasn't happened since God only knows when... I was shocked that I was able to accomplish it, and honestly really proud. And my eating has been very low most days this week. Monday I fasted, Tues-Thurs I stuck to around 500 cals per day, Friday I had about 1,300 cals all day, and today was about 700 cals.

I weighed in Thurs, and it was a nice number to see, though horrifying that I am at this point right now... I got up to the highest weight I have ever been and am trying not to freak out and just lose it. I've lost like 8-9lbs right now, but this weight is STILL higher that my previous highest weight by like 5 pounds. I need to lose like 25lbs more to be back on track.

I've been depressed, but like when am I not??

I don't know what I'm doing

"I can't stop having an eating disorder, so I might as well let myself have one that helps me lose weight."

I have been completely unsuccessful in not binging. My weight is all over the place - I have stopped checking. I need to get myself together. I need to lose weight. I need to start keeping up with my appearance. I need to make time and stop letting myself get so depressed. I need to stop bringing work home with me. I need to stop throwing up meals.

I need to focus on my list and let the other stressors of life fade away. I need to do the things that make me feel better - no matter what.

New plans for life:

  • Wear makeup on weekdays.
  • Keep toes and nails done.
  • Keep house clean.
  • Get a haircut/dye job as soon as I get my money.
  • Stick to my diet of under 1,000 cals per day.
    • General Guidelines:
    • B - Protein Shake and supplements - 160cals
    • L - Crackers & cheese or cheese & melon - 250
    • S1 - Healthy Cookie - 100
    • D - Meat and veg - 250
    • S2 - popcorn, frozen treat - 250
  • Work out 3x per week min
  • Bed time - 10pm.
  • Wake up - 5:30am.
  • Smoke less, binge less, have more sex, don't take benzos, no fast food cheats, save your money, read more, do more art.
  • Stop being a stupid fatass.
I need to buckle down on my self-care. I need to stop coping in old, bad ways. I need to get more in touch with people and things that make me feel good.

I'm grateful for the things in life that are pushing me harder to do better. I'm grateful for people pushing me to be better and not just think I'm better than them. But I do wish my friends would grow up a bit more.

I hope this resolve I feel lasts.

Comfortably numb

Today was one of the fog clearing days. The day when I wake up and can't even remember how badly I felt several days before. Still not back to 100%, but not in the level of funk I was prior.

Work is ok right now. Family is ok. And the past 2 days I have eaten like a normal person and not a cow.

That's really all I want in life.

I want to have a better relationship with food. I'm tired of binging and purging and starving and dieting and crying and loathing food. I'm tired of even thinking about it. I think about food SO MUCH in my life, and I'm so fucking sick of it I could die.

I wish human beings didn't have to eat. I wish I never had to eat again. I wish hunger and digestion and all those processes were not present in the human experience. I wish I could pop a pill and get all my nutrition and calories and feel full with no concerns. I would never eat again if that was truly an option.

I think sometimes in my lowest moments I try to convince myself it is, but I know it's not.

My boss today acknowledged that my call-out on Monday was probably my mental health. I acknowledged back. We have a dance. We sing a song. She lets me hide in the shadows just a bit, but not too much. I feel like we support each other in some strange way, but I also know it doesn't run that deep. It just can't. And I don't think I really want it to if I'm honest with myself.

Ok brain stoppage = bedtime.

Good job today, world.
